How many times have you let diet culture make decisions on what or why you eat?

Maybe a better question is, how many times did you NOT KNOW diet culture was making those decisions for you?

We’ve been so engrained with what diet culture teaches us (I mean it’s been decades!), it’s totally turned into subconscious programming.

That means your subconscious is doing the thinking and your conscious mind just goes along with it, no question asked.

These are things like obsessing over calories instead of the nutritional density of a food.

It’s demonizing things like carbs or fat, rather than looking at the essential nature of these things and why your body needs them.

It’s the belief that losing weight is good and gaining weight is bad.

Being overly concerned with the amount of calories you burned din a workout instead of the benefits for your body and your mind.

These thoughts turn into beliefs, and these beliefs turn into patterns.

And it becomes our identity.

And then we have stepped so far from what ACTUAL health means, we don’t even know what it looks like anymore.

These are some of the effects of diet culture.
